The PAU Camera

The PAU Camera (PAUCam) will consist of an array of 18 red-sensitive CCD’s of 4kx2k pixels. The Camera will be provided with a system of 40 narrow-band (10 nm) filters spanning the wavelength range from 450nm to 850nm, and with 5 wide-band filters, namely the u, g, r, i, z set used in the SDSS project.

The Figure on the right shows an overall view of PAUCam, closed inside its cryostat (bottom part). The cylinder is a liquid Nitrogen Dewar. The light enters the camera from the bottom.

A view of the filter tray system, with one tray just in front of the CCD covering the focal plane,

Lateral view of the inside of the camera (without the Dewar). The top piece is the Copper cold-piece that maintains the CCDs at constant and uniform temperature.
